For the manager
Have you been asked for a reference?
A former employee has asked you for a short reference through Referencepas. Here you can see what it is, what is shared – and why it is safe.
3 minutes
Five ratings from 1 to 5 – three fixed and two that fit the job. Only a short, optional explanation if you give a low answer.
No account
You just confirm your work email with a code – or MitID Erhverv.
Only once
The candidate reuses the reference, so you won't be called by every new company.
The candidate decides
Your answers are only shown to companies the candidate gives access to.
What the company sees
- Your name, title and company
- The period you worked together
- Your ratings and choices
- Whether your work email and company are confirmed
What the company doesn't see
- Your email address and phone number
- Your CPR number – we never ask for it
- Anything about health, absence or private life
- Anything to companies the candidate hasn't chosen
Don't know the person – or don't want to answer?
Open the link in the email and choose “Decline the request”. Then we won't contact you about it again. If you think someone has used your name without permission, write to kontakt@referencepas.dk.
Questions from managers
Is the email genuine?
Yes. Emails from Referencepas always come from @referencepas.dk, and the link goes to referencepas.dk. Referencepas is operated by Grønlund Investments EMV, CVR 42292028.
Why do I have to confirm my work email?
So companies can see that the reference comes from a real manager at the right workplace – and not from the candidate. Use the work email from the company where you worked together. If you have changed jobs, you can confirm with MitID Erhverv. Then the company can see that you are a real person and where you work now.
Am I allowed to give a reference?
Yes – the candidate asked for it. You answer fixed questions about the work and never about health, absence or private life.
Can I change my answer afterwards?
No, a reference is given once. Write to us if you answered incorrectly, and we will help.
How long are my answers kept?
As long as the candidate has their passport. Companies' access expires after 6 months, and you can always ask for access to or deletion of your data.
